👀 HENSOLDT has secured a contract to enhance the sensor capabilities of 90 German Fennek armored reconnaissance vehicles. Under the project, the Taufkirchen-based firm will deliver and integrate new sensor packages that incorporate the company’s next-generation “BAA” observation and reconnaissance technology that combines a thermal imager, light-sensitive camera, and laser rangefinder/target designator. “With the upgrade of the Fennek vehicles to the BAA III sensor package, we are setting a new standard in military reconnaissance,” Hensoldt Optronics & Land Solutions Head Tanya Altmann stated. “The integrated, high-precision systems offer the user superior sensor performance and make the decisive difference in complex operational scenarios. 🇮🇹🤝🇹🇷 Italy gave the green light for Turkish drone producer Baykar Technologies to buy Piaggio Aerospace, which was placed under state administration in 2018. Commissioners managing the Italian firm, which builds and supports aircraft and engines for the private sector and the military, chose Baykar out of three international bidders, Italy’s Ministry of Enterprise said. The solutions will be based on the government’s GVA technical requirements and delivered to Redback developer Hanwha Defence Australia for integration into the platform. 🇫🇮👏 Patria unveiled a prototype of its new, all-terrain armored personnel carrier during the Eurosatory 2024 exhibition in Paris. A 15-ton armored vehicle, it boasts a payload capacity of 3.5 tons and can carry 12 military personnel, including two crew members. The APC was developed as part of the Future Highly Mobile Augmented Armored System (FAMOUS) program funded by the European Commission. “The FAMOUS programme is fully aligned with the European Commission’s goal to enhance the competitiveness and innovation capacity of the EU’s defence industry,” Patria Senior VP of Protected Mobility and Defence Systems Mikko Karppinen said. “We are very proud to reveal this Tracked Armoured Personnel Carrier concept vehicle generated with the support of FAMOUS programme. 🇮🇪🛫 Ireland has awarded Dassault Aviation a contract to procure the Falcon 6X jet to improve the military’s multi-purpose strategic reach. Costing 53 million euros, the aircraft will be stationed at the Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel, and will be operated by the Irish Air Corps. The plane’s assembly is now underway at Dassault’s production center in Bordeaux, France.
